Panasonic Unveils 4 New 4K 60p 10-Bit Camcorders

Panasonic has recently introduced four new 4K professional camcorders—the AG-CX20, HC-X2100, HC-X1600, and HC-X1200—designed to cater to a wide array of video production, broadcasting, and distribution needs. These models aim to blend high-quality imaging with enhanced mobility, making them suitable for both solo videographers and professional production teams.

Enhanced Optical Performance

Each camcorder in this lineup boasts a 25mm wide-angle lens paired with a 24x optical zoom, allowing for versatile shooting scenarios ranging from expansive landscapes to detailed close-ups. The integration of a 4-Drive Lens System enables independent movement of four lens groups, achieving the 24x zoom capability while maintaining a compact form factor. Additionally, the inclusion of ND filters with multiple settings (1/4, 1/16, 1/64, and Clear) provides greater control over exposure in varying lighting conditions.

Advanced Autofocus and Stabilization

To ensure sharp and stable footage, these camcorders feature high-speed, high-precision autofocus systems, including Face Detection AF/AE, which enhances focusing accuracy and exposure stability. The 5-Axis Hybrid Optical Image Stabilization (O.I.S.) combines optical and electronic stabilization methods to correct for handshake and other movements across five axes, ensuring smooth video capture even in dynamic shooting environments.

User-Friendly Design and Connectivity

Designed with user convenience in mind, the camcorders offer improved viewfinder operability through a high-resolution OLED viewfinder equipped with larger eyecups. The transition to a USB-C port enhances versatility, including the ability to power the camcorder via the same connection. Network functionality has been expanded with support for 5 GHz Wi-Fi and the addition of USB tethering capabilities, facilitating more flexible connectivity options for live streaming and remote control.

Recording Flexibility and Audio Capabilities

These models support a variety of recording formats and bit rates to meet diverse professional requirements. Notably, they offer 4:2:2 10-bit internal recording in UHD at up to 29.97p and in FHD at up to 59.94p. The camcorders also support highly efficient HEVC recording for UHD 59.94p at a high bit rate of 200 Mbps. For audio, they are equipped with two XLR inputs, providing options for high-resolution linear PCM audio recording, ensuring high-quality sound capture to complement the visual performance.

In summary, Panasonic‘s latest camcorder lineup combines advanced imaging capabilities with user-centric design enhancements, aiming to meet the evolving demands of modern video production. The AG-CX20, HC-X2100, and HC-X1600 models are set to be available through authorized dealers in early March, with prices starting at $1,299.99.
