Pool season is in session, so if you need a sign it’s time to gather all your summer-friendly essentials, this is it. Swimsuit? Check. SPF? Check. Pool accessories? Honestly, not quite. Since nobody wants to spend their entire time outside frantically treading water, pool floats and noodles are a summertime necessity. That said, finding one that matches your aesthetic can sometimes feel easier said than done.

“Pools are a place to have fun in a yard, but also they can set a vibe for your space and your party or hang out,” says Leigh Jendrusina of SALTHOUSE Collective, an interior design firm based in Carlsbad, California. “I love adding a pool float to a pool: It gives your space some character and sets the tone.”

Valerie Saunders of Sérendipité Designs loves this option from Intex. “We love to leave a fun, unexpected float or raft in the pool once we leave an install,” the Southern California designer shares. “It is a playful opportunity to add a pop of color and personality, not to mention that it is a nice invitation to jump in.” Not only is this float in a classic shade of bubblegum pink—conjuring up some major Slim Aarons vibes—but this option is also a whopping 80 inches so you can splash around with a crowd!

While we love pool floats and accessories as much as the next splash-seeker, it’s easy for these add-ons to feel like an afterthought.
