New survey reveals cognitive well being developments

Kratika Gupta, leadership head of global marketing at OmniActive, joined the NutraCast to discuss a recent consumer survey exploring mental health trends. The survey found that North Americans are increasingly prioritizing mental energy, cognition, sleep and stress management.

Gupta also explained that consumers approach cognitive health in three stages: prevention, alleviation and enhancement—highlighting differences across age groups and the need for targeted solutions. She said there is a growing awareness of cognitive health across various demographics. The younger demographic is particularly concerned about stress, anxiety and sleep quality. Zooming in on gender, she said women prioritize mental energy while men tend to focus more on heart health.

The conversation highlighted the evolving landscape of cognitive health, noting a shift from memory concerns to broader cognitive adaptability needs. Gupta emphasized the urgent demand for comprehensive solutions to address these challenges, especially for gamers, who still make up a good share of cognitive support market.

“People are definitely into gaming and there is that need space which still needs to be catered to, because e-gaming or gaming per se demands multiple areas of health benefit solutions,” Gupta said.

She added that years ago, the biggest concern around cognitive health was memory, which is still a key concern for adults over 40. “But the fact that the younger adults are aware of cognitive benefits, and they look for solutions for enhancing their adaptability, their decision making and their executive functions—this is definitely a shift.”
