These Will Be the 7 Largest Inside Design Tendencies for 2025

Creating a calm oasis means looking more to the grasslands, according to Melanie Turner of Melanie Turner Interiors. “In 2025, the Modern Prairie style is making a comeback, blending rustic charm with a fresh, modern twist,” she predicts. “Expect to see cozy spaces filled with rich, earthy colors like terracotta, warm browns, and olive greens, creating a calm, natural vibe. Natural materials like wood and stone will bring a touch of the outdoors inside, making your home feel inviting and connected to nature.”

Meanwhile, New York-based designer Nick Olsen takes us far from the Kansas prairie, straight to Oz. “My trend forecast for 2025 is pretty specific: I’m picturing Yves Saint Laurent interpreting a Russian Dacha, full of painted Art Nouveau furniture, brocades, tables covered in crazy quilts, mohair sofas draped in faux furs, amethyst glass hurricanes and plenty of pleated silk lamp shades,” Olsen says. “My inspiration comes in part from the movie version of Wicked—the sets and costumes blew me away! It’s all very Venetian Gothic meets Art Nouveau and Art Déco, plus crisp 1940s-inflected YSL tailoring on the spectacular leading ladies. I’m still swooning!”

Which is all to say, the forecast for 2025 offers plenty of leeway. Design, by definition, is a playground for creativity, even as it stays tuned to a common theme of soothing comfort. As Ken Fulk sums it up, “The idea of home represents a place of security and happiness. I think at a time when the world feels chaotic, we seek solace in our own environments. Filling them with creatures and objects we love and adorning them in glorious color and deep comfort is the perfect antidote.”
